Cancel pending order for product if the same product is ordered again

Getting this to work would solve a lot of headaches as far as order management and sending out unpaid invoice emails. The reason being is that we technically only have one paid product (PID2), but we offer multiple pricing tiers for that product. We've noticed it happens a lot where customers place an order for the product with one pricing tier, don't pay that invoice, and sign up for the same product again with a different pricing tier and completes payment.

When this happens, it puts us in a tricky place as far as sending out invoice emails, because if second order is paid for, we don't care if the first order of that product on the different tier is unpaid.

This is what we're thinking, we're hoping it can be done with a simple action hook during the order process:

If PID-2 order is placed, cancel any existing pending orders (and invoices) for PID-2.

If anyone could give us a hand with this it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure how that thread is going to be of any use to me...

...because if/when Serenade finds a developer that can create a solution to the issue, you'll be able to contact either of them to get/buy the solution.

unless a developer comes along and provides a free solution in this thread (very unlikely), it's effectively a closed thread - the important thread is the one sentq pointed you towards... if there is going to be an answer, it will be in that thread, not this one.
