Datorn
Hi! I'm new at WHMCS and are trying to set up everything. So far so good, but there is a big question I have? Searching for a domain goes fine. It search for .comfirst, and shows a list of other domains. The problem here is that the suggestion can be added to basket (I know they are unavailbe). It seems like the check dont work? What am I doing wrong?
brian!
are you using v6.0.2 ? my recollection is that the betas, and I think the first full release, didn't used to check whether the domain was available - but v6.0.2 does and only shows available alternatives. have you tried doing the same search of the WHMCS demo site to see if the same thing occurs there?

brian!
I did try their demo site. A search for a.info tells me its available. That cant be correct? no that's a bug - I think the minimum length for a .info is 3 characters, but domainchecker seemingly isn't checking length and just searching regardless. I think this issue only applies to domainchecker with v6, as v5 correctly disallows such a search. in v6, if you use cart.php?a=add&domain=register instead of domainchecker, then it doesn't allow these searches to occur. you might want to report that as a bug in the Bug Reports forum. Yes, Im using 6.0.2. Is that a beta? haha no - though I still think of every v6 release as a beta!
WHMCS Nate
Hello, Domain length restrictions right now are a known issue with the new name spinning code. We have given it the ID CORE-8978 and expect to have it fixed soon. We allow use of either whois servers or eNom's namespinning API. The demo is setup to use the namespinning API in test mode so that we don't let someone purchase a domain name through eNom on our dime in the demo. The test mode spinning does not frequently update what domains are registered and not registered, the live mode updates more then once a day. However its not in real time. As such when a domain is added to the chart we do a second check to see if the domain is available. If its not available we give an error message so that the user knows what is going on. I do not expect users to actually be able to order a domain that can't be registered. Have a great day, Nate C
