teksun
I have a free version of a file and have created an upgraded version of the same file. Customer does not select the addon in the checkout process can only download the free version. Customer DOES purchase the addon in the checkout process and can only download the upgraded version. Can someone explain how to set this up please?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted June 30, 2015 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted June 30, 2015 Hi, You could make the file available to all clients by adding it under Setup > Support > Downloads. Then to make it available only to clients who purchase a specific product, use the download distribution feature: http://docs.whmcs.com/Product_Download_Distribution That would require a product be ordered though, there isn't currently an option to do it with just an addon.
teksun
That is what I am doing now. What I am talking about is a product addon. The free version of the file can only be downloaded by going through the checkout process. I have a product addon for the file to upgrade to a better paid version for $5.00. How do I set it up so that if a client upgrades they can download the upgraded version instead of the free version. I am assuming it has something to do with creating the product addon within WHMCS. This page tells me about product addons but doe not explain the "Associated Download" field. Again I am assuming but it looks as though this might be kind of what I am looking for but it looks as though I whould need to create an addon for every file I want to offer an upgrade for. Is that correct?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 1, 2015 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 1, 2015 Hi, When a client orders an addon with an "Associated Download" it will appear on the parent product's product details page (Services > My Services > View Details > Downloads tab). If you'd like the purchase of one addon to confer access to one upgraded file only, then yes it would be necessary to create one addon per file. I have opened a case with our documentation team so this can be elaborated upon in the documentation.
