vagelis
We are running WHMCS version 5.3.9 on our server, which has not been upgraded since last year. We want to patch it to version 5.3.14, without loosing our current configuration and customization. The 5.3.14 patch appears only to be compatible with 5.3.13. Is there any safe to patch the 5.3.9 to the current version?
brian!
you would need to download the full version of v5.3.14 to upgrade from v5.3.9 http://docs.whmcs.com/Upgrading remember to take a backup of your v5.3.9 installation before upgrading... and then if you spot any differences, compare your backup against the latest installation.
sentq
you can download v5.3.14 full version upload all files without the ones you made modifications too (templates for example). or you can apply patches (each one) since v5.3.9 to v5.3.14 (~5 patches) this way only changed files will be uploaded and no customization overwrite. after all upgrade (when you complete uploading new version files) you need to login to admin area for the upgrade to be applied (MySQL commands applied)
vagelis
Would not the upgrade to full version delete all my customization and settings?

vagelis
By customization I mean all my settings, such as the API keys, server connection, the prices, the plans, etc.
brian!
By customization I mean all my settings, such as the API keys, server connection, the prices, the plans, etc. oh, upgrading should not affect them - they're stored in the database - but take a backup of the database too before you upgrade.
sentq
what i mean here is that with each patch you can find small amount of files, so it will be easy to apply changes to any customized area. @vagelis no this settings will not be overwritten, it may apply new settings also to find out more about changes applied it will be good to check patch release(s) provided by brian
vagelis
I did the steps brian and sentq suggested. a) full backup of all the files (just in case) b) backup of the SQL database (just in case) c) one by one all the incremental patches (10, 11, 12, 13 and 14), after each patched checked the website and checked the WHMCS by logging back in, checking the pages and my settings, as well as the version number being increased. No issues. Once I reached 5.3.14 I got the message "You are running the latest version of WHMCS (5.3.14)" Great, I did not have to downgrade or use the backups, and everything worked. Thank you!
