Domain renewal - Change registration period after invoice sent

How can a client change the registration period after the invoice has been sent? I was thinking of adding a link in the invoice email to the manual domain renewal page. But if the client does this what happens to the original invoice? Is it left hanging or can it be automatically cancelled?

Also I noticed that if a recurring promotion code is set on a domain it is not pulled in when doing a manual domain renewal. Is there a setting somewhere to enable a recurring promotion code to be applied automatically applied to a manual renewal?

Many Thanks!

they can't - invoices can only be modified on the admin side.

I can't recall ever being asked by our customers to modify the domain renewal length of a generated invoice - but I guess if that ever happened, the invoice would need to be manually modified by an admin and re-sent... I don't think there's an automated way to do it from the client side.

slightly left field, and this only occurred to me when pondering your question, but you could consider modifying your "Upcoming Domain Renewal" email template to show the registration period for each domain - that will give the client advanced warning on the current renewal period, and gives them the option of contacting you before the invoice is generated, or manually renewing the domains themselves with their chosen renewal period.

I haven't tried this, but I would expect the original invoice to remain unpaid and a new invoice created.
