we use office 365 as our email and i can not get whmcs to send emails. when i use mail type: php mail() it says it goes through but nothing is ever received and I have tried various email addresses. when i use smtp with all of the proper settings in there i get an error message:

Email Sending Failed - SMTP Error: data not accepted.

these are the settings i gave:

mail type: smtp

mail encoding: 8bit

smtp port: 587

smtp host: smtp.office365.com

ssl type: tls

i have tried several settings changes. i am really confused as to why there is no error message when using the php mail setting but it still doesn't go through.

TIA for any help

make sure the setting is correct like "SMTP Host" you need to get this info from inside your account try

1- Login into the Online Services Portal.

2- Click on Outlook

3- Click Options (upper right corner)->See All the Options

4- Click on Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP access…

5- There will be a section title SMTP setting, and should contain something like:

Server name: pod51010.outlook.com

Port: 587

Encryption method: TLS

that is where i got the settings from to enter in and i have checked and rechecked them several times

any chance it could be a firewall issue as with the thread below?
