othellotech
Hi,This is long time that we are using WHMCS but everytime we have isssue with those clients who placed orders for registering a reserved domain names by registrars. Is there any way to prevent placing order for those domains? The current 'whois' method for checking availability is a. not the right method and b. not able to have multiple 'not available' rules So basically, no, you cant fix it, although one-day WHMCS might
rega
Hi is there anyway to develop it in our side ?? I mean in our whmcs?? It seems WHMCS don't care about that . Or even show an alert while client try to search about his desire name... How big registrants like : enom,Namecheap and ... do that? it should have a soloution
brian!
How big registrants like : enom,Namecheap and ... do that? it should have a solution they will use an API search method rather than relying on whois - it's been mentioned previously that v6 will likely do that too... and there are addons for WHMCS that will do that for certain registrars (ResellerClub Tools being one I think)... API is also important for premium domains too - e.g, brian.london is $850, brian2.london is $49 - WHMCS using whois would just tell you if it's available or not, not the price. if you had to, I think it could be done - in fact, i'm sure i've either done it in roughly when testing ideas a long time back, or I at least figured out how it could be done.. had a quick look in my notes, but couldn't find the precise code... anyway, the problem is there are different reserved lists - some of them are massive, with others not even published. at the very basic level, there are reserved words such as ICANN, EXAMPLE, countries etc that aren't allowed to be registered... most of the time, the whois result will block these, but for some tlds, e.g .club, they don't... and some registries have their own reserved lists... Minds & Machines used to show theirs on their site and there were over 10,000 of them - not all of which applied to all of their tlds... good luck programming that!
rega
Thanks, honestly I did resolve some built in WHMCS issues for our usage, such as : If you create a promotion for a register domain, this can be use for renew and transfer !! that I resolve this and we can create a promotion code just for register or renew or transfer. Please let me know : 1-How can I get or access to your mentioned API? 2-When WHMCS v.6 will release?! Thanks Rega
brian!
1-How can I get or access to your mentioned API? each registrar will use its own API, so what you can use will depend on which registrar(s) you use. off the top of my head, I can only think of two API options for WHMCS... ResellerclubMods - for use with LogicBoxes registrars (Resellerclub, Resell.biz and NetEarthOne).. http://www.resellerclub-mods.com/en/products/free-mods/free-resellerclub-tools.html Hexonet - https://www.hexonet.net/software/whmcs-module I think each will only perform API searches if you have an account with that particular registrar - if you're using another registrar for your domains, you might need to check with them if any similar options are available. 2-When WHMCS v.6 will release?! I have no idea - it's scheduled for this year, but exactly when is unknown... it's due to be released as a beta first, so I would imagine it will be months before a full public release is available.
