wdele
Hi, I can't find for which TLD's NetEarthOne offers ID protection anywhere. So does anyone here know it? Thanks!
brian!
http://manage.netearthone.com/kb/servlet/KBServlet/faq1205.html This feature is not available for the following TLDs (extensions): Due to restrictions imposed by the Registry Operator: .ASIA .AU .CA .CN .DE .ES .EU .IN .NL .NZ .PRO .RU .SX .TEL .UK .US [*]Due to other restrictions: .ORG.CO, .MIL.CO, .GOV.CO, .EDU.CO I assume any gtld not on that list can offer Privacy Protection, but if in doubt, might be worth emailing NEO support.
Kian
I might add that ID Shield is a very tricky argument because every tld could have its own specific rules. In fact for example ID Shield on .it domains is a partial obfuscation of personal details. You can only hide your email, address and city but not your name. In my opinion the best thing you can do in this case is learning by doing With time and orders you'll find out how ID Shield works for every tld. I know that it sucks but it's quite impossible to retrieve these informations from every Registration Authority. brian!
if it helps, the link below shows you the OpenSRS gtld and cctld reference chart - it shows whether "Whois Privacy" is available for a tld sold by OpenSRS. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk2rdrp7tq7risa/OpenSRS_reference_chart.pdf?dl=0 I would guess that if OpenSRS allow it for a TLD, then other registrars will too - but as Kian says, it's a tricky area.
