blakeh
but namesilo.com have limited TLD's to chose to register And there's the rub, wondering what it would be. I like that Enom has a bazillion TLDs and I have used that flexibility to be able to sell new things to clients looking for good branding domains when the .com space is pretty much exhausted. bh
Troy
If you're using WHMCS, you can have a *much* more robust domain service than Enom by using ResellerClub and modules from ResellerClub-Mods.com. Who cares if the backend interface is clunky, so is Enom's in areas, and your clients won't ever see it. You'll have a much more robust domain offering combining ResellerClub + modules from ResellerClub-Mods.com versus the WHMCS enom module. If you ever have clients forget to renew a domain name for so long it goes into redemption, they'll probably appreciate paying < $100 to redeem it vs. Enom's $250 too.
easyhosting
also with Reseller Club you get a supersite and partner site set up, so in effect 2 pre designed websites, 1 as a retail site and 1 as a reseller site. we have been with reseller club for many years and have the reseller club module set up in WHMCS along with the supersite and partnersite set up under specific domains

Not sure if the RGP pricing is set by the parent account, but we only have to pay $90 if a domain goes into redemption. My comment regarding ResellerClub's interface is that it doesn't feel like a pro tool like Enom. I'm in this business for the long haul and sometimes techie types like us go after price instead of professionalism. I still run into folks using godaddy for their domain management. In fact the company we just bought, the guy in charge didn't understand Enom so he migrated everything to Godaddy under separate reseller sub accounts. (what a pain, I have 150 domains spead across separate accounts to get back migrated to central account) Last I checked, Enom is the number 2 domain registrar behind godaddy and number 1 when it comes to reseller hosting. I don't want to waste time dinking with someone like ResellerClub just because it's a few nickels cheaper when it doesn't have the options or the growth possibilities I'll need down the road. No offense to anyone using different services. I've just never had any problems with Enom. As for customer's forgetting to renew, we strive to keep on top of that for them. We're not really a retail hosting company, we're more concierge type, with more hands on account management. Very few of our clients log into whmcs, it's mainly a tool for us to manage the customer accounts.
easyhosting
To get the most out of Resellerclub, you need to have your own Resellerclub account and not a sub account like what WHMCS basically gives you
Blueberry3.14
I'll grant you that wasn't my most professional comment ever. Still I cannot imagine many people would find it cool that Enom purposefully chose to redirect a children's ministry domain name to a porn landing page. Yes the client was dumb to allow the domain to expire, no question there. FWIW, I agree with your feelings on this.
Blueberry3.14
I highly doubt ENOM redirected the domain name. I don't think your client was dumb either. Very very busy maybe. Domains don't just switch off or redirect the day they expire, as I'm sure you know. Oh, but they do. Domains registered through NEO "switch off" at midnight, GMT, the night/morning of the day of expiration, and are redirected to a parking page with ads.
Blueberry3.14
Why does everyone keep arguing a point that I have never made? I've never said the domain shouldn't have been redirected. It was *where* it was redirected that I, and the client, found objectionable. [...] It wasn't meant to hijack the thread and devolve into an infinite loop of argumentation over a point that wasn't even contested. Bro, for what it's worth, I feel your pain and share your frustration, with both eNom and some of the responses you've received in this thread. And FWIW, your comments helped *me*. I hadn't realized eNom had instituted a $250 redemption fee (NEO's varies by TLD, but it averages $50-75). $250 is highway robbery. The need for a redemption fee should be avoided as much as possible, but I don't want to set up my clients for being ripped off. So thank you for chiming in. Now I'm going to exit this thread before I lose it over seeing one more person say something like "But it's not YOUR domain (after it expires)"... technical correct, but also unhelpful, splitting hairs to a ridiculous degree.
