patstan
Hi, I have this problem with clients paying yearly. Basically, some clients are paying for the previous invoice (not the one that says unpaid), but the one that says "Paid". Im suspecting some clients want to "get away" with the price increase and so they are paying for the last years invoice instead. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks
Alex - Arvixe
How exactly are they paying the previous invoice? Once the invoice is marked as paid, it should remove the ability to pay with the next 'Unpaid' invoice being the one that needs to pay. What version of WHMCS are you using?

Thats exactly what im thinking. Im using whmcs version 5.3.8 (latest). I have no idea how those 3 clients paid the old invoice. Even the old invoice number is being written on the paypal notification email.
visiba
Do you work with PayPal subscriptions? If so, PayPal will always show the initial invoice number that was paid at the time the subscription has been created.

Any way to solve this ?
WHMCS Ryan
A paypal subscription is a reoccurring payment at whatever the amount was in the original subscription. If you change the amount of the service, the invoice will change in amount but the subscription will stay the same. The payments are posting to the old invoice because that is the last invoice in the amount of the subscription. There are a few things you can do, if price changes are going to be common place you will want to disable the subscription feature in the paypal gateway settings in WHMCS. This will force one time payments only and you can make changes to the price anytime you like without having to worry about anything. If the price change is a one time deal then you will need to contact your client and have them cancel the subscription and recreate using the subscription button on the invoice. Overall the feature isn't designed by PayPal to work with services that have different amounts on different recurring terms. --Thanks
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 14, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 14, 2014 Hi, If the PayPal Subscriptions sent payment before the renewal invoice for the service is generated, the payment would be recorded against the original invoice against which the PayPal Subscription was originally created. The client will be credited for an overpayment, and this credit will then be applied towards the renewal invoice when it is generated at a later date. Thus WHMCS handles the situation elegantly, ensuring that the payment is not 'lost' and nobody is left out of pocket.
