PHP 5.5 on ubuntu 13.10 - WHMCS ioncube issue

Hey guys,

The server admins upgraded our main web server to Ubuntu 13.10 yesterday on the path to 14.04 LTS. All sites work except WHMCS which apparently will not work with PHP 5.5 (I've seen a few threads on this). Does anyone have suggestions on how to run PHP 5.4 alongside PHP 5.5 in such a way it doesn't interfere with the main packages from Ubuntu? We would like to move forward with our server and all other sites work fine on PHP 5.5 except WHMCS.

If not I guess I'll create another virtual server just to host the WHMCS files and connect to the database on our main webserver but its not ideal...

Any comments/ideas?

OK So I setup another 12.04 LTS virtual machine. The plan was to SCP the files from the other web server and connect remotely to the database. So i setup the server with apache2 and php5 (with ioncube) but kept getting blank pages on the main URl. I then tried the /admin and it said I needed CURL which i then installed and it went away. But I just got blank pages and I couldn't figure out why. Nothing in the apache error log and I turned on full error display in php.ini but still blank pages!

I downloaded a new version of WHMCS which during pre-req checks showed I needed MySQL support and GD support. I installed those two and the blank pages are gone and it works! Just need to relicense it.

Spent about 4 hours on it now though ;(

Hi,

I'm pleased to hear you were able to get everything working again, and thanks for the follow-up. It is important to ensure your server always meets the system requirements: http://docs.whmcs.com/System_Requirements

I'm sure any future users who run into this problem will find this post most valuable!
