Changing Company Details but need to keep invoices as they are

I wondered if anyone can help...

We have been using WHMCS for a couple of years and we are in the process of changing our company details (essentially closing down company A to trade as company B).

We want to continue using WHMCS and we are retaining all of our customers on the services they are currently on. Prices, etc are also staying the same. However, as company B is a new company, we need to start invoicing again from scratch but customers still need to be able to access their old invoices with the old company details on. Is this at all possible?

when you say "start invoicing again from scratch", do you mean you want to reset the invoice number to 1 ? if so, you can't re-use existing invoice numbers...

two thoughts on your options... you could just carry on with your existing invoice numbering system (unless you live in a country that insists on starting at 1 or some specific number)...

or perhaps you could use Sequential Invoice Numbering -

http://docs.whmcs.com/Invoicing#Proforma_Invoicing.2FSequential_Invoice_Numbering

using that, you could change your future invoices numbers to contain text, e.g COMPANYB-{NUMBER}

then possibly you would need to modify your invoicepdf.tpl template to display one style for old (Company A) invoices, or a new style for Company B invoices... would likely be just one if statement in the template, but the exact method would probably need to be determined after you've decided on your future invoice numbering.
