Re-establish the WHMCS MYSQL connection after connecting to another MYSQL database

I have tried to figure out how to reconnect to the original database after connecting to another external one but am having trouble.

 

I have tried mysql_close(); to close the external connection but it looks like I still need to reconnect to the WHMCS connection. Another thread said to use $whmcsmysql but I am having a brain fart at the moment and can't seem to get the code to work. Anyone have a code example of how to reconnect to $whmcsmysql

U mean the connection details at configuration.php ?
