Firehouse
I'm getting totally confused in regards to setting up the payment gateways..At first Paypal told me that Payments Website Standard would work using the setting Paypal Pro Reference Payments, then come to find out a few days ago, that it doesn't work...I was told that I could use Paypal Express Checkout (which in a part of Payments Website Standard business account that I set up with Paypal, and chose Option 2 to get the API information to insert into the payment gateway set up with WHMCS), and in testing it directly (not using sandbox mode) when clicking on "Complete Order" button at the bottom of the checkout page, or via the members invoice within their client area by clicking on the "Pay with Paypal" button at the top, it is showing this error message: We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem. If this payment is for an eBay listing, you can contact the seller via the "Ask Seller a Question" link on the listing page. When you have the correct email address, payment can be made at www.paypal.com. The email being used at Paypal is namehere@domain.com Under the General settings for Email Address, it is set for anothernamehere@domain.com, and I did try to change it to namehere@domain.com to see if that was the problem, but that didn't seem help any, so I changed it back again..Do I need to create buttons at Paypal for this to work? I wouldn't think so, as these were automatically added in once select Paypal Express Check and inserting the API info within the payment gateway set up page.. Also, how can I set up the recurring payments using WHMCS' s invoices in conjunction with the Payments Website Standard account I have set up with Paypal? Firehouse
To update this thread...I just hung up with Paypal in regards to this issue, and their saying that everything within the account is accurate and should be working fine, so the problem seems to be on WHMCS side...
niels
My first guess would be the "API information" you copied into the settings in WHMCS. Maybe you copied them incorrectly or had them reset/changed in PayPal after copying them into WHMCS.
Firehouse
mmm no, and I've doubled checked the information within both Paypal and WHMCS, and they match..Should I try to remove the Api creditials within Paypal, and then request new api creditials?
Firehouse
Upon talking with Paypal again, and having them check to see where the problem was, this is what they said: Thank you for contacting Merchant Technical Services. After checking your website, the reason you got error after redirect to PayPal site is because you didn't pass the business email address in you shopping cart. Here is the sample parameter that you send to PayPal : cmd=_xclick&business=&item_name=Firehouse+Web+Hosting+-+Invoice+%235&amount=7.99... From here we can see you have pass the business parameter without the email value. So you need to check all the parameter before you can redirect your customer to PayPal site. What exactly are they saying here, and where do I need to adjust this at for it to work properly?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 22, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 22, 2014 Hi, First please ensure you have the regular "PayPal" module enabled and configured. This is a pre-requisite as described in our documentation: http://docs.whmcs.com/PayPal_Express_Checkout Second, please ensure you click the Express Checkout button *instead* of clicking the regular "CheckOut" button on the view cart page. You cannot use express checkout to pay from the checkout page or from an invoice - you need to use the regular PayPal module for that.
Firehouse
So, then do I even need "Express Checkout" then, as it seems that the Paypal module would handle one-time and recurring payments? When I click on "View Cart" button it is showing that the cart is empty with subtotal and Total Due Today displaying $0.00..and this happens when the "Show on Order Form" is checked On or Off, under the "Paypal Express Checkout" module and when deactivating the module, and leaving on the Paypal module activated...
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 24, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 24, 2014 Hi, The point of the Express Checkout system is that clients don't need to enter their name address, phone number, email address etc on your checkout page. - it all gets pulled from their PayPal account when they click the Express Checkout button. However should a client choose not to use Express Checkout and go through the regular checkout process you still need the regular PayPal gateway active to process their payment.
Firehouse
Okay, thanks for the explanation, and I believe I've been able to resolve this issue, and it seems to be working fine. I'll open a new thread for the other issue mentioned unless there's one opened on the topic already.
