benc
forgive me i'm new to this... I am using paypal as a payment gateway, and understand that when I set up a product to have a recurring payment, Paypal registers it as a recurring item and charges the user every x days/months/years etc (which then triggers domains to be renewed etc). With domain transfers and registrations, a recurring payment isn't automatically set up with paypal. I've created a product that has recurring payment for the cost of the domain, and includes a 'free domain'. This seems like an unnecessary hack, but i'd hate to have someone loose their domain due to their paypal account not being charged automatically. Is there a way to assign a domain registration to a new product, and force the recurring payment with paypal (ideally on the next invoice due date)? Thanks for any assistance
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted December 19, 2013 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted December 19, 2013 Hi, Domains do not generate PayPal Subscriptions, only products. However you can send up to 5 upcoming domain renewal reminder emails to clients (in addition to the invoice emails and overdue notices). So there's plenty of chances for clients to login and renew before the domain would expire.
benc
Thanks for the reply. I do have a number of notifications for pending expirations. However, wouldn't it be nice to not have to remember to log in and pay for one of the most critical parts (website loosing its domain name is pretty catastrophic). So back to the issue or possible workarounds... Ideally assign the domain to a new product from whmcs admin (can it be done?) If that can't happen, then create a new product that includes a 'free domain'. Can the holder of a domain transfer the domain to the same registrar/host? ...i will try the workaround as i have a few upcoming domains for myself coming up for renewal.
