Domain-only Order - Nameservers - Namecheap

I have a client that wants to transfer their domain to me (my WHMCS - I use Namecheap for domain registration). The only thing is that they currently are using Namecheap's FreeDNS (i.e. their domain points to Namecheap's FreeDNS nameservers - freedns1.registrar-servers.com, etc.). This is what Namecheap told us to do prior to the domain transfer to ensure that DNS would still work during and after it. Namecheap advised that once the transfer was complete, the domain would be changed to point to the regular nameservers (i.e. dns1.reigstrar-servers.com, etc.) and use DNS provided by the existing account and not FreeDNS.

My only concern is that when the client goes to try the transfer via WHMCS, during the order process it advises him to input custom nameservers (and populates it with some for my reseller hosting account, which would not be correct for this client). If he just leaves that blank, will the domain transfer go through without WHMCS submitting any nameserver changes (i.e. it would stay as freedns1.registrar-servers.com, etc. until Namecheap presumably changes it over to dns1.reigstrar-servers.com, etc. once the transfer is complete)?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I'll check with them. But I'm confused - if WHMCS doesn't usually change nameservers, then why does that custom nameservers screen come up at all then...?? What is it's purpose if the nameservers aren't actually being changed?

See attached for the screen shot from an attempted domain transfer for one of my WHMCS clients...thanks!
