Manage Own Domains

So, I just finally got around to setting up WHMCS and am still in the process of learning/customizing it.

I'm planning to bring my first domain (from a client) over via domain transfer, but I also have a few domains myself. I'm wondering if:

a) there is any way for me to use WHMCS via the admin interface to manage my own domains (they are on Namecheap)

-or-

b) I can just create a regular account for myself as well and use that to manage my domains via WHMCS (but without any sort of billing/orders/invoices since I do all that with Namecheap directly...and if I accidentally paid myself, it would probably cause all sorts of red flags with my payment processor)...

Thanks!

you would create a client account for yourself - then add them as a new order to your account - "Add New Order"

uncheck "order confirmation"

uncheck "Generate invoice"

uncheck "Send email"

in Product/Service - do NOT select a hosting package - enter the domain name in the field directly under Product/Service labeled "Domain"

Next - select "registration" - choose #years for your NEXT renewal - ie, if you normally renew your own domains 1 year at a time - select "1 year" etc.

Repeat for each domain - you can add 2 at a time by clicking "Add Another Domain".

When you have all your domains - click "Submit Order" - on the NEXT screen - select NameCheap as the registrar - UNCHECK "send to registrar" and "send email" - change order to accepted and hit the "accept order" button.

Now click on one of the domains and it will take you to the client - to the domain itself.

As long as that domain was with that registrar, you can edit DNS, update your expiration - click the "Renew now" button to renew etc.

So I did the above (I actually followed these instructions: http://docs.whmcs.com/Importing_Data) and I think I got it mostly working. I had to go into pricing before I could fully complete and actually add a price I'm going to charge for the .com domains, although I zeroed it out for "myself" so that I wouldn't be charged.

However, each morning a new invoice was being generated and sent to me - not sure why. I'm thinking maybe it was because the "next due date" for the domain was set way in the past - so I've moved that to the future and we'll see if it works and doesn't generate a new invoice and email me about it tomorrow morning.

Also, in the WHMCS admin panel, I can do some modifications on the domain, such as nameservers, modify contact details, etc., but I don't see any way to do other changes, such as DNS management, etc. without going into WHMCS as "myself" through the regular login. Does the admin interface offer these options, or would it only be offered through WHMCS as a regular logged-in user?

Thanks!
