Addons / Configurable Options ... something in between?

Hey guys

So far so good with WHMCS. There are a few minor things I need to figure out... one of them being this

I offer a complete pay monthly package.. website, hosting, domain etc etc

Their website can have bolt ons.. such as newsletter integration and so on, each of these bolt ons are optional and incease the pay monthly amount.

My problem is that i seem to need something in between Product Addons and configurable options.

For starters if someone wants a bolt on, then it must be added to their monthly bill (or yearly) which means configurable option is my best bet

However, my bolt ons are optional and can be added at any point.... so even months after they have taken out the initial package they can add these extras on... which basically means it MUST be a product addon because configurable options are only available at the ordering stage

So basically i would like to have a Product add on, which can attach itself to the current billing cycle of the client..... any ideas?

:-)

couple of things spring to mind...

there is a Configurable Package Addon module available from WHMCS for $70... it might not be what you're looking for, but I thought it worth mentioning anyway.

http://www.whmcs.com/addons/configurable-package-addon/

another way might be to use product bundles, though if you have a number of addon options, then the permutations of bundles you would need to make could be off-putting... e.g

default bundle

default bundle +addon1

default bundle +addon2

default bundle +addon1 & addon2 etc..

I would assume (I don't know - i'm guessing here!) that switching between the bundles would be upgrading/downgrading and so keep the existing billing cycle... though I think there may be a pro rata invoice to take them to their next invoice date, but you'll have to research that.

to be honest, I don't think there's a simple solution to your issue.

Thanks for your reply... even though you are the barer of bad news. Yes you are correct that the product bundle solution is far to much hassle.

I will be adding different bolt ons all the time.. and if i had to create every possible option each time it would just be silly.

Although an interesting module, the one you posted isn't applicable for my needs right now.

I am surprised there isn't a solution for this. I think my only possibility then is to do Product addons... the one and only downside is that it separates the billing out to the client... but thats just messy, not a deal breaker.

Hopefully someone can come up with another solution for me though :-)
