Update to 5.2.5, which files have been changed?

Recommended Posts

If you open the archive you'll see that there's only 2 files in the patch. If you're patching from the previous stable release.

If you're upgrading from something other then you'll need to review all the notes back to the version you were using.

Sounds like your looking at the downloads available against your licence in the whmcs client area.

The patches are available publicly and posted at blog.whmcs.com/?t=73290

I don't know why they don't have the patches linked to from within the client area as it has been asked several times here already.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but, from Client Area, go to Downloads. From Downloads page, at bottom (in small text for some reason) you see this:

"Looking for a specific release package? Click here..."

Click here, takes me to these options:

V5.2.5 - Full Package - Download

Release Type: SECURITY - 16th May 2013

V5.2.4 - Full Package - Download

Release Type: MAINTENANCE - 23rd Apr 2013

V5.2.4 - Incremental Patch Update - Download

Release Type: MAINTENANCE - 23rd Apr 2013 Compatible with WHMCS V5.2.3 Only

V5.1.6 - Full Package - Download

Release Type: STABLE - 23rd Apr 2013

That's exactly what I'm referring to. It only includes the full download. Listed, as per your post, as "V5.2.5 - Full Package", and that's what prompted the OP's question.

It does not contain the patches that are listed on the blog page or the email that was sent out advising the security notice.

i.e.

v5.0.6 (patch only) - http://www.whmcs.com/download/306/v506patch

v5.1.7 (patch only) - http://www.whmcs.com/download/310/v517patch

v5.2.5 (patch only) - http://www.whmcs.com/download/314/v525patch

v5.2.5 (full-version) - Available in the members area

I think the reason there are only Complete downloads available would be to eliminate any confusion, I think that is a good idea.

However, i think two tabs would work better on the downloads page, one for complete downloads for upgrades, one for patch only downloads. these would include all incremental and security patches.

It would just make it simpler to find everything, It isnt really ideal to be going in one direction for completes and another for incrementals it just serves to complicate things.

I think one location, check if logged in with upgrades or not. depending on the result, display only the downloads they can obtain. For instance if you are releasing critical security patches, incremental updates within a branch. these should be available to all, If its a branch or version update, these should be logged in with active updates only.

Does that make sense?
