Recommended cheap SSL reseller that allows direct debit by credit card ?

On the lookout for a supplier that can offer cheap SSL's and take creditcard debits as a method of payment with their reseller offering.

 

We require that they have a integration with WHMCS via a module also

We require that they accept creditcards for reseller purchases and not via TOPUP Credit how most do

SSL's need to be competitively prices also

 

Any information would be greatful.

I'll keep an eye open for this and will update you if I find something. I really do think you would need to use a topup service though as right now I don't think what you are after exists.

I completely understand Though it shouldn't be to difficult, get your monthly sales average and topup accordingly. Should see you through most months without any problems assuming you don't get a rapid surge in sales one month .

Out of curiosity, and it may solely be a terminology barrier here, but why would you go with a reseller of SSL certificates? You typically get better pricing directly.

 

Comodo, Geotrust (whom we offer through), are a few direct SSL providers that should be considered.

Enom use topup, you can top up as little as $100 with a reseller account. I will happily offer you a free reseller account, or you can go with whmcs in either case all you need to do is top up $100, Then you set up your alert when the balance drops below a certain value, on such low fees, so long as you are on a low traffic then $40 base line is adequate enough.

 

If you want to go directly to enom, your looking at a much larger deposit and this is quite often far beyond the reach of many resellers/startups because of the low flow of sales, but then this is exactly what they want if you have cash sitting and they dont pay out for a domain its free cash (no refund policy) but look at it this way, even if you have just your own domain and host it with them, then you have for many domains about 10 years of fees paid in advance.

we use gogetssl.com who have a WHMCS module that works. This is a top up system, but what we do is simply

 

1) client orders SSL and pays us

2) we top up our gogetssl account to cover the ssl they order, if above the £20 we keep in the account

3) order goes through and client gets their ssl

For some reason it seems that no one offers credit card debiting only top up.

 

I have decided to go with namescheap, they only need $50 top up at any given time and prices are very competitive, supposedly the whmcs module is very good as well.

just tested ours out with gogetssl.com when i needed an ssl for our hostname and i paid for the order through my debit card without having to top up ( although you only need a min £10 GBP (approx. $15 USD) to top up). and they have a working WHMCS module.

Edit: I think NameCheap hinted on live chat to the possibility of doing this debit/credit card instead of a topup, they asked for a ticket to see if they can set this up.

Namecheap CS say alot on livechat, but do very little on what they say. it seems that in my namecheap account i qualify for level 2 reseller which gives a comodo positive SSL at $8.53/yr (£5.66/yr) but my current provider sell me these for £2.50/yr ($3.77/yr) and these are just pay as you sell. so not topups needed. the same rates seem to be with all the ssl certs i currently get, so i am getting them 1/2 the price namecheap are willing to sell them to me., so i can sell them to my clients at the price namecheap will sell them to me .

I just checked gogetssl.com they are infact very cheap, cheaper than namecheap.com however i will need to speak to a livechat staff member to discuss the direct debit option as a reseller and also pricing. Will keep the thread informed.

This is to keep processing costs down, imagine how much those costs would be with a base charge per transaction plus a percentage cost.

 

It makes more sense to take larger payments and pay the same base charge and percentage.

 

EX: 90p base fee + 1.5% charge

 

£400: £400 x 1 = £0.90 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £6.90 ( 1.725% Overall cost)

 

£400: £100 x 4 = £3.60 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £9.60 ( 2.4% Overall cost)

 

£400: £25 x 16 = £14.40 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £20.40 ( 5.1% Overall cost)

 

£400: £5 x 80 = £72.00 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £78.00 ( 119.5% Overall cost)

 

£400: £2 x 200 = £180.00 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £186.00 ( 46.5% Overall cost)

 

£400 £1 x 400 = £360.00 + £6.00 @ 1.5% = £366.00 ( 91.5% Overall cost)

 

So as you can see from this, these Transactions all start out with the same base total. The only change is the amount of payments made to reach said total. now you can see the difference between what this costs you at and why smaller price packages might not actually make financial sense in the long term. Unless you can get your clients to pay in block amounts.

 

In essence what you are seeing here is the smaller payments you accept the more it will cost you. maybe the registrar has half your costs, but even so, to maximise their profits they need to minimise the payments so take a larger ammount.

I looked over gogetssl's offerings, based on your recommendation of them throughout this thread. I know things happen at the most inopportune times (I've had server glitches right after I pitched a big client), but the fact is their main site is down with a database/WHMCS error and has been for a while.

 

I don't mean to be overly critical, but it looks like something similar happened a month ago: http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/11687/cheapest-ucc-certs I see both sides of the "to have an SSL on your main site or not" issue, but for an SSL provider....I would say I think they should, and then block Google from indexing the https site (it's a little bit of a pain, but it can be done).

 

Luckily the client area is still up (must be on a different server and/or network, which is good), but a lot of internal links that should go to pages (based on what the buttons/links say) instead go to just the main website...which is down atm. I submitted a support ticket, and they've apparently customized WHMCS so that you can only upload one attachment. I was trying to be helpful and upload two, so I figured I'd simply add a 2nd reply. Nope, can't do that either. I had to open a 2nd ticket.

 

Looked for them on Twitter (again, to give them a heads up that their site is down, OR to see that they knew about it and were working on it). I see links posted to Facebook, so I follow them, thinking it would be easier to post to their FB page than to Twitter. They/he links to a personal FB account, that you would have to 'friend", not a business page.

 

This on top of various spelling errors and broken English on their site. My point is, at the end of the day, it's the support you get from a company that should be the deciding factor.

 

I know you (easyhosting) have said you've gotten great support from them, and I believe you. I'm just hoping my experience with them thus far is an anomaly and things get better. I like what they're offering, I just want to know there's decent support behind it.

Yep, I've been to their Twitter already, no response (I did say that in my post, that I found them on Twitter and saw them linking to a personal FB account). Their Facebook I also found (found both long before I posted here), yet it's personal account that I would have to "friend" in order to reply. That's also the FB account they link to in their tweets.

Yes, their grammatical and spelling errors are minor, but almost comical.
