Ah right my mistake :)

Will provide my take on the new theme in that board soon :)

i prefer the new theme, but the confusing with hosts is that if you are on a reseller plan and your host has not upgraded their cPanel/WHM or you have a cPanel server and have not yet upgraded cPanel/WHM then you will be using to old theme

We always keep our servers up to date to the latest stable versions of cPanel / WHM! What I meant was I will provide my feedback on my experience with the new theme for potential improvements.

my comment was more of a general observation. for all i have my own servers i still have an old reseller account that i have 1 site on that i keep because the host has the specific scripts set up for that site, they are still using the old WHM theme. i have asked them several times to upgrade.

Hello,

As LTS tiers within cPanel reach EOL, all servers will eventually move into using the new theme. It's quite understandable that they would not push a new interface, or major change to the software to all tiers at first release.

I'm sorry if you find this difficult to work with, however it's simply a small transitional period. Two years from now you'll most likely have forgotten what the old skin looks like.

For example, I bet no one remembers it looking like this - I didn't until I looked it up ;)

I can just about remember that cPanel interface. Thosr that have the upgrades to be carried out automatically, will change to the new interface, but if they have manual upgrading set, then these will not change until the host upgrades manually. Also on a note about EOL. Look how many people are still using Microsofts Frontpage (EOL 2006) which cPanel are still providing even though their is no support for this anymore.

cPanel cannot simply remove FrontPage as they still have users using it unfortunately. Much as that x3 won't be reach it's end of life anytime soon as people will continue to use it/have a need for it.

I'm not sure how this became a complaint that hosts aren't updating, when the discussion was on the improvement on the cPanel interface. Doesn't seem to be a need for constant negativity, but to each his own.

I did not mean to be negative. the FP was an example that EOL does not mean it will vanish. yes i have clients that still use FP, i even have some clients using the cpanel x theme

I understand that EOL doesn't mean vanish. To note, cPanel depreciated the X & X2 themes in 11.30 with case #44075 - which ultimately depreciated and removed these themes in March of 2011. Automatic updating would have completely removed X & X2 themes.

x4 will adjust to screen size. Have you met, Morris? Depending on the size of your window, he can be seen in different areas. :)

If you have the x4 demo setup on your staging server, re-size the browser window yourself and note the way the entire page and all it's contents, rearranges to fit.

  • 4 months later...

IF my memory serves me correctly it was only in the last 12 months that some features from x started to work properly in x3

I remember having to go into x theme to set up something a while back, i forget which it was, it was either the cron job for whmcs or into email forwarders but i know it was a pain in my butt, i could be wrong on the timing it might be a little longer than that maybe 18 months.

So on that bombshell, i will hold off for a very long time, besides i use a custom theme set that is based on x3 so im not sure how long it will be before the provider updates to x4 support if at all.
