durangod
My pending customers echeck cleared today and i thought i would have to do all kinds of manual activation but the system did it all. All i had to do was mark the order active and activate it after the fact. The system saw the payment had cleared and set it all up with opensrs all on its own without my intervention at all. Absolutely outstanding WHMCS... GREAT JOB!!! KUDOS! KUDOS! KUDOS! Edited January 22, 2013 by durangod typo

WHMCS Chris
Sounds like the login credentials to your registrar for the API system are incorrect.
durangod
Thanks, it was a combination of things. 1. i took an echeck which took 10 days to clear which i never do take those but at least i know what will happen. 2. because the order was on hold and in opensrs i had the process imediately checked, it created 4 pending orders for the same domain. 3. When it did process and whmcs went to run everything, it did register it, but due to all the pending orders it failed to put the information in the mod_opensrs table, so it could not authenticate. Once i cleared the pending orders on the opensrs side and put the domain data in the mod_opensrs table then everything was fine. Lesson learned on my part. Now that i know what the issue was i still think that WHMCS did a fine job processing this order, and i still say KUDOS!... However there has to be a better way to error track this so i dont have to spend so much time tacking down the reason why. I am curious what exactly caused it to fail to put the data in the database since the order was all processed and showed completed and domain registered. And i dont know if the error control is on WHMCS side or Opensrs side. But i do feel that has to be a better way to give us more information on these generic errors in order for us to manage them ourselves. openmind
I'm not being funny or anything but what did you expect to happen? WHMCS is designed to be an automated system that on receipt of a payment and an order being processed automatically everything should get setup without intervention. That's the nature of automation is it not?
durangod
I consider your remark rude, demeaning, insulting, and most of all unnecessary, the last thing i consider your remarks is funny. I know what automation is and i know what is suppose to happen. I thought i would say something nice and i felt something nice needed to be said. And i was happy with the way it worked and KUDOS in my mind were justified, regardless if you agree or not. I guess noone can say anything good about the software without your negative two cents huh!

Woah, you might want to chill out a little. It was a simple enough question. It's like turning the ignition key in your car, you expect it to work as advertised. That's all I was pointing out... Sheesh...
durangod
fair enough then my apologies.. Using your example, lets say you spent close to a year (due to my medical condition) setting up your car. A couple of mods, a couple of upgrades and to date you have never taken it on a trip and never a live trial run. So one day you get a bonus check and decide to take it on a long trip. When you turn that key, you might say cool it started and as you said it works as advertised. Now If you happen to be in a pinch and really really need it to work perfectly and it does "even when its expected" you might be talking to someone one day and say "oh hey they make a rock solid product" it saved my tale let me tell you what happened. Well that is what happened to me, i have been prepping this for almost a year, and still have tons of work to do. When i got my first customer which was this customer honestly i kept my fingers crossed cause i felt i was in a business pinch, if it works i get the customer, if not i get a bad name right from the start. It worked and i felt i had to say something positive is all... and as i said i am still very curious why it did not put the value in the table when the domain was registered, seems to me an error control could be done to check the table and if the value is not present in the query then the message could read, "hey check your table value - domain not found" instead of Registrar Error Authentication Error which is too generic i think. We will certainly see what happens under normal conditions when all is paid at time of registration and everything is done all at the same time, if it does not write to the table then, then of course i have an issue with that, if i have to manually up date the table for each and every new site then that is certainly bogus. However if not then again i will be on here saying kudos because sometimes being nice and saying nice things means something to those that work hard on this every day.
