When I closed a customer account all new unpaid invoices were cancelled

why close an account if they have outstanding invoices?

we never close any account if their is outstanding invoices, we will just make the account inactive, which keeps any invoices still due. This way if a client tries to get hosting again then they cant unless they pay outstanding invoices. We have had clients try this, but have forced them to pay any outstanding invoices and place a £50 credit on their account before we will host their sites again

Because some of us are large companies, in countries with VAT. If an invoice isn't cancelled, then we have to pay the VAT on that invoice. If a client isn't going to pay us, then it's better to cancel the invoice instead of losing more money.

That's odd that you're experiencing this issue as it's certainly not happening to us!

We get a client here and there that signs up for something, uses it for a month, then neglects the account. They pay for the first month, then a couple invoices are generated but never paid.

Once the product is terminated automatically, we go through and close out the account at which point WHMCS automatically cancels their outstanding UNPAID invoices.

This is with v5.1.2
