I'm sure people here have read this story a million times already: I'd like to start offering shared web hosting. I'd like to start things right and use WHMCS for billing, client management and auto provisioning. To minimize my investment while offering both Windows and Linux hosting, I've decided I'd like to to start with a couple of hosting reseller plans. I'm looking at both Windows (Plesk) and Linux (cPanel) hosting. My questions about both the Plesk and WHM/cPanel auto-provisioning modules:
- Is root(WHM/cPanel) or admin(Plesk) access required for such tasks, or will access to any account with sufficient resources work for auto provisioning?
- How is the auto provisioning done? Is it done through APIs (If so, I'll obviously have to check with the hosting provider if they provide API access) or is it done through simple HTTPS requests?
