markehme
Probably in the wrong section, feel free to move it :- ) Well, I've started developing a Desktop Application, it will contain all the features of WHMCS, it will also in the future work with other services and directly work with cPanel, Pleask, and other services. So, with this very small demo - am I doing this right guys? Are people actually interested in this? Or am I wasting my time? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apy6NvU5qI0 Thanks!
bdwarr6
I would be interested in this, if you need a tester let me know I will be happy to help you work out some bugs esp since its for OSX

24khost
this would be awesome as long as it is not to expensive
ukicnet
i like the idea of a desktop app however I have the same worries as htb.
plateaultd
I hate to rain on your parade, but I have to ask, why? Everything is moving to the web making being tied to your desktop PC a thing of the past. I have handled WHMCS related items just about anywhere my laptop or iPad can go.
24khost
yes but would be great for support operators not to have to use the website.
DavidBee
Hey what you have shown so far looks great! Looking forward to testing this when released. As HTB said I have saw other projects being abandoned.
BryanB
I would definitely give it a try if it's for OSX but it may not be as useful vs just using the web. I think a better idea would be to create some kind of support ticket desktop notification system for OSX using growl or the new notification center in mountain lion. I often like to keep my inbox clean without getting flooded with support emails and just receive growl notifications of new tickets.
mrl14
Opening an app that is maybe 70% feature rich, compared to opening an app (my web browser) that auto loads the whmcs billing system with 100% features. It's pretty obvious what is better. Now if this was an iPad or Iphone app, it would make more sense.
othellotech
Well, I've started developing a Desktop Application, it will contain all the features of WHMCS So you're writing a new verison of firefox A desktop notification app telling you of new orders/tickets.whatever I can see some poeple needing, but the *point* of WHMCS is that it's web based, so I think you're developing something pointless.
DJFireCFH
I would actually like to work on creating or finding a Desktop Notification that tells you when a ticket has been submitted. I seen alot of projects like that have been abandoned and others just a bit to much stuff to it. I just want a notifier that tells me "Hey theres a ticket now go answer it!" click a button and it opens your browser to the ticket. If someone would know how I can get started on that... Please advise, I know some programming as I make little things, so I would need to know how to connect to the database.. (I use VB 2010) Im just looking for or looking to make a ticket notifier... Anyone else?
webhostnr1
Hello I would definately be interested buying a whmcs desktop application for windows as long as you can use all the features as in the web version.

DJFireCFH
Well, I was able to do some messing around today... and so far have it to where you input some info and log into the database and can see the tickets.. (the display is a little sucky at the moment since im still messing around with it) but the login works, and connects to the ticket database.. So Ive gotten that far... just need to work out some more things and fix up the design some... And before its asked.. I have no clue when / if it will be released... it depends on how much time I have, and what I have to read up on.
DJFireCFH
So heres what I have so far... Keep in mind, this isnt anything sexay or spectacular or anything that will blow your mind away... its simple, basic, and boring. Still working on somethings.. mainly the notification part... So I have some reading to do.
hostgaul
it will be great if you can develop standalone notifcation, for main menu, I am using fluid to make it easier
EksoKen
Its funny to see how many telling him its pointless as whmcs is web based, is none of you using a desktop app for ex. live chat ?? Thats also web based. Go on with this project i am sure many that hasn't commented is positive to buy it if its useful and working well.
markehme
Hi All, Sorry for the reply being so late. I was only just notified that people had actually responded. I believe some more information is necessary: - It will work on Windows, Mac, and Linux - It saves bandwidth by using a custom-built API - It increases security - no longer the need for the admin portal online - All information is completely encrypted, and can be encrypted again using SSL I've subscribed to updates from this thread now so if you have any more questions please feel free to ask them. I could possibly create a free notification alerter as well for your desktop. In Mac, it would show up in the Notification Center, in Windows, it would show up in the system tray, in Linux -- i'll think of something.
mthosting
is this an air app?
markehme
is this an air app? No, it is compiled down to machine code to create a native application.
crazyR
Very nice idea, but like someone said earlier plenty have tried and then given up, but then when you look at some of the replies in this thread you can imagine why all those others have given up in the past. If you enjoy it being web based then great good for you, you already have it, this project isn't for you so go take your negative comments else where. This guy is spending his time to help the community here and I think many people will benefit from his work, Companies with Many support staff for a start. Rant over, just hate seeing people work hard to be put down, I see it everywhere nowadays.
markehme
Thank you for your kind words. The project is near completion, I just need to whip up a name for it.
