allmyhoney
Hi all, I am hoping I can get some advice from someone who knows Paypal Subscriptions quite well. I have had a client this morning make 5 orders on my site for a recurring service for €50 each for each service - so basically 5 identical orders all recurring. He was able to pay the first one fine and the invoice was updated through paypal module and so on. However the moment he has gone to pay the second order which is the identical amount again and a second subscription just like the first he gets the following: It asks to verify a change in payment. I think it might be because identical regular payments are going to the same receiver. I want to ask firstly can one client order the same subscription more than 1 time through paypal - this is simply vital for me. basically right now instead of the subscription being €250 it is now still €50 inside in paypal. Secondly if they are allowed, what could be wrong here, and what do I need to do to fix this? This is really urgent as I have clients not paying right now
allmyhoney
Ok so just to update this thread, Paypal have come back to me suggesting yes a client can have more than 1 subscription and right now WHMCS seems to be just modifying the subscription rather than innitiating a new separate subscription so that the client therefore would have 2 separate subscriptions. This is the response: "When a subscription is created you can include the "modify" command and allow buyers to change an existing subscription. Instead of using this and changing an existing subscription your invoicing system should make an entirely new subscription without referencing an existing one. I've included links regarding the modify command your system appears to be using. If you do not see an option to change it's behavior I suggest contacting the cart for assistance. http://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/ebook/subscriptions/modifying.html https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_html_subscribe_buttons#id08ADFA005QU I suppose my question is - is there an option in whmcs to make sure its a separate new subscription that is created? Thanks
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted June 15, 2012 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted June 15, 2012 Hi, you simply need to untick the Setup > Payments > Payment Gateways > Modify Subscriptions option: http://docs.whmcs.com/PayPal#Modify_Subscriptions
allmyhoney
Hi John, ok I see now. Its a little deceptive when I look at this now as the option in the paypal gateway module says: Allows subscribers to modify their current subscriptions or sign up for new ones. By reading this one would think to check this option as it says "or sign up for new ones". I will bow to your wisdom and give this a try. Thanks for coming back to me john.
