LuisT
Hello guys, Can someone tell me what is the better and faster way to change the domain name without having too much trouble? 1- I was thinking in create a new account with the new domain name and transfer the data to there. But this will give me lot of work... because I need to create cron jobs again, change details of configuration.php file, modify whmcs settings, etc... 2- What do you say about only changing the domain in account settings at WHM? I mean, changing this: http://i.imgur.com/9iAsN.png If I go to option 2, do I need to change anything else? DNS zone maybe? What do you suggest? Waiting for your reply, thank you! Best Regards, Luis T.
tripler
Go to addon domain, add the domain you want. Move all your files into the folder of the new domain. Reaquire a new license key(i think)
othellotech
are you just referring to changing the domain of your hosting account ? - if you're *sure* the original isnt used at all for nameservers etc then yes, just "modify" the account through WHM
zomex
It shouldn't be too hard to do but there's many ways you could do it. The addon domain method would definitely be the easiest/quickest. Otherwise you could simply create a new cPanel account, restore the database, upload the files, change the system URL and then re-issue the WHMCS license.
ckh
If all I was doing was changing the domain name, I'd change it in whm and then have the license reissued, if necessary. Then set up new email accounts (if appropriate) make the configuration changes regarding the domain name. You wouldn't need to touch the cron settings (unless using lynx or wget), mysql changes or configuration file. With an addon domain or new cPanel account, in addition you definitey would need to change the crons/mysql settings unless you created it on a different server with the same username.
