When a customer has a domain registered with us and hosting, but then cancels hosting and keeps the domain, is it still possible for them to update their DNS records?

We use eNom for registrations. The domain is registered with eNom, but any changes the client makes to their DNS (adding a records, etc) within the WHMCS client area, do not take effect i eNom.

I have the same dilemma, some customers want to mange their DNS from WHMCS, but they can't as the default name servers in WHMCS are set to ours, so the dns records have no effect.

How can the name servers be set to enom's name servers so the dns records are enabled.

Write a knowledgebase article on "How to manage your own DNS", which shows them which nameservers to use.

They can then change their domains nameservers in their client area.

but even if they manually change the name servers to enoms, at the enom side the setting is "external name servers", so not sure if that will work.

on the enom side "our name servers" means theirs

on WHMCS side "our name servers" means ours

As long as they enter all 5 Enom nameservers, Enom picks up the change to "Our nameservers".
