Organic
When a customer has a domain registered with us and hosting, but then cancels hosting and keeps the domain, is it still possible for them to update their DNS records? We use eNom for registrations. The domain is registered with eNom, but any changes the client makes to their DNS (adding a records, etc) within the WHMCS client area, do not take effect i eNom.
laszlof
The DNS management option only works if the client is using eNom's DNS servers for their domain. If they were using yours, they will not work. They can however still login to WHMCS and change their DNS servers if they wish.

snake
I have the same dilemma, some customers want to mange their DNS from WHMCS, but they can't as the default name servers in WHMCS are set to ours, so the dns records have no effect. How can the name servers be set to enom's name servers so the dns records are enabled.
laszlof
I believe the default nameservers for new domain registrations are set in your registrar.
snake
yes, but this is overridden by the WHMS settings.

Write a knowledgebase article on "How to manage your own DNS", which shows them which nameservers to use. They can then change their domains nameservers in their client area.
snake
but even if they manually change the name servers to enoms, at the enom side the setting is "external name servers", so not sure if that will work. on the enom side "our name servers" means theirs on WHMCS side "our name servers" means ours
