WHMCS for a web design company?

lahatte

Question

I don't sell domain names but I design websites and fully manage them. I would like the ability to sign up new customers on recurring monthly payments that integrate with authorize.net. If a client's credit card is about to expire or does expire the system needs to send reminders where a client can login and update their credit card. If a client doesn't pay after a period of time the website will auto suspend until payment is made. Can WHMCS do all this? If so, how do I set this up? Does anyone have some sort of walkthrough?

Thanks!

Well we have web design 'packages' which are one-time payments of like $199, $299, etc, and then we have "Addons" for those packages which are recurring for maintenance, etc that clients can choose to purchase. We also make the clients purchase the hosting separately, so if they don't pay their hosting fees their accounts are automatically suspended by cPanel. Essentially, their 'product tree' might look like this:

- Web Hosting ($5/mo)

- Web Design ($399)

--|----- Web Maintenance ($49/mo)

So will whmcs auto set up the site with cpanel and all? Also, how does it work on a VPS? Where do you install whmcs? Or do you need a dedicated server?

WHMCS will set up accounts on a Cpanel server, as long as you have at least reseller access to that server. You install WHMCS anywhere you like (shared, reseller, VPS dedicated), though I personally believe it should be fully isolated from sites you host, on at least a VPS. Not necessary, but a bit safer overall.

What about Wordpress Multisite? Is there a way for whmcs to create and track sites as addin multisites?

One more question: How can you integrate a recurring affiliate system with WHMCS? What 3rd party system do you reccomend? or will WHMCS do it all by itself?

Thanks for all the help!

The WHMCS affiliate system is recurring. There are many professional affiliate systems out there with more advanced features that can be easily integrated into WHMCS with a bit of tweaking, but for the vast majority of people the built-in system will work great.
