Matt, Vbulletin?

Matt,

This forum is so active its a shame its not on Vbulletin.

I have noticed that the search function in particular is much stronger in Vbulletin than in phpbb. It would save much time for the user when trying to search and in addition to you in the end as people will find what they are looking for and not post new threads/tickets.

Any plans on migrating?

Actually i dont agree here at all, i cant stand VB when it comes to searching and general use. All you have to do is click on "Search All Terms" when searching in phpbb and you will get great results.

It call comes down to the knowledge of using a search engine of any sort when it comes any search function. You have to know how to use it correctly to get the best results.

The only real benefit to VB over PHPBB is the large array of spam tools, and the terrific back-end. Matt installed something to help with the spam, so the only real benefit would be better moderation tools and a few handy shortcuts to finding things.

PHPBB is adequate for what it's being used for here, I think. ;)

PS: I hate Invision board...and would not willingly use it if I had a choice. ;)

I agree, VB is definitely better for the admin/mods, but i dont think it offers anything better to the end user IMHO.

I don't feel vBulletin would be of any use here. The spam bots, are a slight issue however that Is being worked on.

They are an issue why exactly? I never see any spam posts on here from bots :)

I'd guess it was mostly the security. PHPBB is a huge target for exploits, probably because it's freely available and fixes aren't quite as fast to roll out. Maybe. I'm sure he'll be along to give his reasons tomorrow sometime. I, for one, am thrilled to be off PHPBB. It's a pain to moderate.
