Duplicate installation's config to another domain

PCGH

Question

I am new to WHMCS but am really liking it. I offer web hosting under two separate domains / entities so as I understand it I need a second license which is fine.

When I buy my second license, is there a way to copy all of the WHMCS configuration info from the first installation to the second? Then I could just go in and change stuff in a few select spots rather than starting from scratch.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Tony

Nope, you will need to maintain two installations individually.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I know I will once they are installed. I am wondering though about copying the initial, basic configuration from me to the other. That way I don't have to setup plans, payment methods, registrars, etc twice.

Yes you can certainly do that. It's quite straightforward - you would just need to duplicate the existing install, so copy the files to the new location and copy the database into a new database, connect the new install up to that database, and then you can remove any client specific information from the copy using the SQL queries provided in our docs @ http://docs.whmcs.com/Maintenance

Hope that helps.

that is an interesting idea tho, I myself dont need it but their are companys that have sharedhosting.com and reseller hosting .com, the loginshare would be interesting,

I understand having multiple licenses, but i agree it should be possible.

you could still use 2 databases and use a db sync like vbulletin has a optional backup databse.

No sorry, that's not supported right now.

It may not be supported but it is possible if the 2 sites are on the same cPanel (one would be an add-on domain)

The only draw back is that whatever products appear on one site will also appear on the other.

I know this is possible because when I first got reseller hosting a free whmcs was included. I used it for a while but wanted my own. Shortend the name of our domain, added it as an addon and got my own whmcs. For a while they shared one database till we got everything relocated.

You do have to make sure that the configuration file points to the same database.
