GGWH-James
thanks - are there any other implications in setting this option ? Using stock control as suggested by John would disallow anyone from ordering what you set to a '0' stock as the product/service is out-of-stock. Combining that with the configuration mentioned below, you would effectively disable client registrations. will it purely bar people from registering ? Take a look at WHMCS admin -> Setup -> Other -> Allow Client Registration to block registrations without ordering something. I still want people who do have accounts to be able to place orders.....- this way prevents this ! While I may be mistaken, I don't believe that WHMCS natively supports exactly what it is that you are wanting to achieve. However, it can be done though via action hook(s) and/or template modification(s). You could set WHMCS to block new registrations using the aforementioned setting and then utilize an action hook to block orders from non-registered clients; presenting them with whatever error message you like. Another option would be leave the setting allowing registrations enabled, if you utilize the affiliate system for example, and have the action hook check if the client has an already active order or not and either block or allow the new order that they're attempting to place based upon that. That way people could still register and use your affiliate system, but not place any orders though unless you've created the initial order on their account for them.
