looking to dump merch account for paypal

Mindfield

Question

Hello WHMCS peeps.

This looks like a wonderful platform.

Ive been using Modernbill/Plesk with Authorizenet / Merch Account for almost 10 years and I need a change. I want to switch to using WHMCS with my PayPal business account. But Im kind of afraid, because, while im still a small time web designer/host, my current process is tight and professional.

So while the cost is getting exorbitant through my current billing processing, Im afraid to change the user experience too much. As is usually the case with most webhosts, my clients use credit cards and are billed recurring. Currently, I have it all set up through Authorize.Net.

First: if I switch over, what will have to happen with all of my recurring accounts? Ive used PayPal for billing, but sparingly, and it is branded if they use their own PayPal account. What Im unsure of is is how credit card users will find the experience. Given that PayPal takes credit cards, how different will it be for credit card customers under PayPal? Also, will I have to send out a mass email to my existing 300 clients and have them re-sign up under PayPal? Or will I be able to make this process transparent? I dont care if they see Im using paypal suddenly, but i dont want to have them go through any extra steps.

Second: what is the security like with this software? Im concerned about my registrar API. In the past I had a hijack scare that I blame on ModernBill.

Thanks for your insight.

Walt

Hi,

There are essentially two types of PayPal gateway WHMCS supports; their third party gateway where your clients click the "PayPal" button on an invoice to send payment, they are taken to the PayPal website to enter their PayPal account details. They can send one-time payments or create subscriptions which send the same amount each month.

Alternatively we support Website Payments Pro which is similar to Authorize.net in that it's a merchant gateway; card details are stored in WHMCS and the client's card can be charged any amount at any time.

We have a proven track record of providing extremely secure software, if a genuine issue is discovered it's always patched immediately.
