Please advise on how to setup my email support system

hi, I built my website using joomla, and am using WHMCS to handle billing for my web design and hosting products. I am wanting to set up my email so that it is scalable to handle greater quantities of clients.

I know that WHMCS has a support ticket built in, but my customers always email me, which I check using Thunderbird, rather than going to my website to open a support ticket (which is how the WHMCS support system works). Is there a way to integrate Thunderbird with the WHMCS support ticket system?

What do large hosting companies like hostgator.com use for their email support system? It seems like when I email them, a ticket is automatically opened. Is there software that I could start using that would be a good solution for managing all support requests?

If you want a ticket board application then you can go for kayako.com, WHMCS has in built integration for kayako Ticket boards. In that as you specified if clients e-mails to say:

support@yourwebsite.com

then a ticket is created in ticket board. from one end you or your support staff replies it and from other end your client replies it same as a forum but in this a client can view only his tickets and not others where as from admin end you can see and manage all the requests of all clients coming from all types of support departments like Technical, billing, sales.
