dhollingworth
Hi I've just installed a trial of WHMCS - we hope to deploy a full licence in the next couple of weeks. I installed ioncube using the ioncube wizard and that seemed to work OK. I created my MySQL database OK I ran the WHMCS installer and walked through this OK. I removed the install directory and secured the writable directories as advised. I then went to login to whmcs for the first time. The login page displayed OK, however when I type in my administrator user name and password I get a very brief view of a page that says "404 error - page not found" before I'm bounced to http://www.yourdomain.com. I've tried with several browsers to at least try to see what page it's complaining about; but the redirect is too quick. There's nothing in the apache logs either. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? Thanks David
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 27, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 27, 2010 You'll need to use a tool like phpmyadmin to enter the correct SystemURL into tblconfiguration. eg. http://www.yourdomain.com/whmcs/
dhollingworth
Thanks for your reply. The problem turned out to be two issues; but the use of PHPMyAdmin resolved them. The initial problem seemed to be that the password I entered during the install for the administration user wasn't then recognised when I first tried to login to the admin backend. After a number of failed login attempts my IP address became locked and the fact that the SystemURL wasn't set meant the "Your account is locked" page couldn't be found, hence the 404 error. I tried installing twice (i.e. I removed the first install and database completely and reinistalled). The second time I used a very simple password to make sure I didn't mis-type it during the installation; but again I couldn't login to the admin backend. This I eventually managed to fix when I found a thread that described how to insert an admin user into the database. This thread contained an encrypted password for "admin". I was able to use PHPMyAdmin to update the admin password and after that I could login just fine. So the issue seems to be that the password I entered during install wasn't then recognised once install was complete.
