hoball
Hello, If my server has disabled direct root access, how can WHMCS perform its automation? Say the server can only access its root privileges with "sudo"
s1rk3ls
I don't know about the other control panels, but cpanel uses an API so there's no need to have SSH access to create accounts. I would imagine the other systems are the same as it's rare to give root access to resellers for example.
bucketshop
hoball, I can confirm that whmcs does its magic with direct root access via ssh disabled. I am guessing that it is not working over ssh since it asks if you want to use ssl. That leads me to believe it works over http/https instead. Please use https instead of http. Have a great day!
Adam
Hey, All you need is root access via WHM, not SSH or server wide but WHM. You have to setup a reseller and give it the permission of "root access." This should not add the user to wheel group of root but have root access to WHM. networkegypt
We do the magic with WHMCS in case of WHM/CPanel but what about other control panels . Some of them Require SSH access . If you do the custom module any how another way (warning:Decrease security) to permit root login in the SSHD config file
Dominic
Did anyone work out which bits whmcs needs root access for (if at all for cPanel)? I remember another thread somewhere but I don't think it was nailed down.
MediaIgniter
We have root login ssh disabled on our machines and haven't ever noticed any ill effects with WHMCS due to this.
