Alistair
I have a few ideas which I think would improve WHMCS - these things may already be there, if so, please tell me! Firstly, when a potential client submits a message via contact.php, the only way to reply is via email. Would it be possible for WHMCS to have a section where you can respond to the message whilst remaining in the admin area? It's a bit of a pain to get the message via email only - it would be good to have an inbox/email feature. Secondly, PayPal chargebacks....a pain in the butt! Is there a way for WHMCS to detect a chargeback and update the daily/monthly/yearly income accordingly? A lot of chargebacks by unscrupulous clients kind of distorts the financial figures somewhat. Thirdly...I've forgotton - I'll reply when I remember! Apart from the above, I love WHMCS but these changes, if possible, would be great to see in future releases. Cheers
Alistair
Oh yes, is there a way for WHMCS to check a registered clients name to see if it matches with their PayPal name? This is where I am having a problem with charge backs as people are buying stuff with PayPal accounts that don't belong to them. I know that this is a long shot that may not be possible... Or is this something MaxMind could help with?
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted September 30, 2010 WHMCS CEO Share Posted September 30, 2010 Firstly, when a potential client submits a message via contact.php, the only way to reply is via email. WHMCS already has that and you can set the contact form to open a ticket instead if you wish in General Settings > Mail Matt

Or is this something MaxMind could help with? i have the module that lists the free email addresses and in maxmind setting have the system to reject these I also have the maxmind telephone verification service, so when an order is placed maxmind system will call the purchaser with a security code that they must enter in the order form to prove the tele number is theirs and also if they use a free email address (yahoo, hotmail etc) the system will mark the order fraud for you to manually check the order before rejecting or accepting it. i have used this method for several years and have had no problems and no chargebacks.

Most of the people I know have a completely different email address for their PayPal accounts, so all this will do is lose you potential business.
Alistair
Most of the people I know have a completely different email address for their PayPal accounts, so all this will do is lose you potential business. What I meant was that is there a way that WHMCS can check the clients first and last name. I.e. If a client registers with the name "John Doe", but his PayPal name is "David Beckham" - this is more likely to be fraud. I'm not talking about the email address, just the names registered at PayPal and WHMCS.

Sounds interesting....but how does the telephone security system reduce fraud? If a buyer is intending on paying with a phished paypal account, what good is the telephone verification? Cheers for the info though - I will look into Maxmind some more.

Cheers for the info though - I will look into Maxmind some more. a fraudster is not going to give you genuine details, so by using the telephone security system means the maxmind system will call the tel number the customer has given with a code that the client must add in a form on the order system, if this is a false number then no code will be added so the order will be marked as fraud. I.e. If a client registers with the name "John Doe", but his PayPal name is "David Beckham" - this is more likely to be fraud. who says this is fraud. I have a client who has been with me for the last 4 years, but he uses his girlfriends paypal account to pay (both different names), this is the idea of using a service like maxmind, so it checks and then allows you to personally verify order details before deciding to accept or reject order Edited October 2, 2010 by easyhosting

easyhosting
If you have the correct security features on your server, use the Free Emails Banned Addon along with maxmind you should not have any problems, just check any orders that come through as fraud so that you can reject through that you are still wary about as when you get the maxmind report you can check the IP for blacklisting and you can also check the ISP hostname details

That's a very good idea, i think you would have to pass that on to PayPal, here in Australia, i can signup for a bank over the internet, when signing up, the system want's 100 points of ID, it list ID's etc, so i can select Medicare, Centrelink, Tax file number etc, and it automatically checks my name, Date of Birth, Address etc to what i typed in. May banks do that now in Australia while i'm also going to look in to it soon.

The person doesn't know they will need to enter one until it ask so if they wanna signup, you'll have there number, helps for investigations etc. Make sure you always contact your Federal Service when there is a charge back, such a Police.

If you keep block IP, it's just going to limit people in that country, because hundreds of people use the same IP, they rotate.
