Vixile
Hello, I have for the last year been annoyed and rather pissed at WHMCS for their policy around their reseller. When you buy a license, either monthly or owned from a reseller of WHMCS then you loose alot of priviliges. You cannot get a developer license You miss out on their Enom offer You don't get access to their beta releases You miss out on every offer and pre-release that WHMCS has What's the most annoying is the developer license and beta releases, WHMCS has a strict policy that the license needs to be bought directly from WHMCS to have access to these featuers, but for some reason then they lack on their policy when it come's to forcing their resellers to actually inform the reseller clients about all these mis-outs. No one will buy a license directly from WHMCS if they know that they can get it cheaper elsewhere, and like me, when i bought my license, had no idea that i missed out on 90% of the "extras" because i bought the license from a reseller, neither the reseller or WHMCS informed me regarding this, and non of the partys bothered to take responsibility. The way i see it, then WHMCS use their resellers to gain free advertising and traffic in return for a bit less income per license, but neglect the customers they gained this way. WHMCS is a great software that's most likely coded perfectly, but the "office" people, the ones that takes these kind of decitions are pretty much doing a poor job, and i guess that the coders and the office people are the same guys and therefor a poor job is done on the administration part.
GGWH-James
You bought from the reseller, not WHMCS. Therefore, you get the promos, if any, offered by the reseller, not by WHMCS. :-/ WHMCS has the right to restrict their offers as they do. Nexxterra
When I bought, I was tempted by someone reselling a license they no longer needed but then I thought, why? when I buy things day to day, I buy from places like home depot, sears, etc. These places sell the exact items you can get else where, however, you have the after sales support and return policy you can depend on. As a reseller, the company you bought from CAN offer an enom account, they just need to pay a bit to get to the point where they can offer you a decent price. I fully support the policy to eliminate benefits and features, as it is, anyone with about 40$ can become a web host and without the money and commitment behind you to be successful, all this does is drive the clients to the bigger companies once they have a bad experience with a small reseller.
aXeR
Just by direct? Why should WHMCS extend the few incentives their direct customers who pay more get to those who want to penny pinch and buy via resellers? The old adage 'you can't have you cake and eat it' comes to mind!
Vixile
you get this if you purchase through licencepal as they also have the offer of a free enom account I am fully aware of that, but my main point is that WHMCS sell resellers to make more money, and their resellers advertise WHMCS Licenses as "Regular WHMCS Licenses, with your own WHMCS account and support from WHMCS" WHMCS don't but any "TOS" on their resellers, the resellers should clearly inform their clients that you loose out on everything and the only thing you have left is the software. WHMCS allow resellers because the resellers does advertising for them, do sales and pitch the software around and in the end most of the money ends up with WHMCS, but in return they neglect un-aware customers that has no idea what they loose out on when they go with a reseller..

Either Leased or Owned, branded or non-branded. You get the same whether bought from here or a reseller. As for support, WHMCS does in fact provide support to all WHMCS users with valid licenses, whether pruchased directly from here or a reseller. I've personally seen as much posted by staff within these forums. What you quoted, is exactly what is provided. Just because HP is offering a free printer with the purchase of a computer at their Web site, it doesn't mean that I should expect to go to Future Shop and demand a free printer with my computer. The promos you do or do not get are dependent upon where you pruchase said product/service. You misunderstand, what i mean is that when a reseller offer that, then all the other stuff seems normal to. I am not asking for a "free" printer, infact, i am not asking for anything for free at all. Considering that what i am refering to doesn't cost WHMCS a dime, but is simple just something they offer with their products to gain customers. What's so terrible by letting people that bought a WHMCS license, from a reseller yes but a WHMCS license to participate in their Beta program? Why wouldn't people like me be able to help WHMCS by reporting bugs and test their unstable releases to help improve? Why wouldn't a reseller client like me get a developer licenses to help improve WHMCS by developing modules to the community? Why wouldn't i get a developer license to develop what i and others find as missing within the existing software? Their entire policy is just wrong, and i have seen people choose different billing systems due to the WHMCS policy.
bear
Perhaps instead of looking at it that you're being denied this because you bought from a reseller, you should instead look on it that you get more when buying direct. You're not being "punished" for having bought elsewhere, you're being rewarded for buying direct. Your purchase deal is with the reseller, not WHMCS. They buy in bulk (or however they've agreed to handle this with WHMCS) to reduce their cost per license so they can sell lower and still make a profit. From the perspective of WHMCS (I'm guessing here), the license is already sold, without any additional perks and access, at reduced rates. I'd guessed as much when I went to buy, and chose direct purchase.

No, i doubt that resellers buy their external licenses before their sold, with Internal licenses it makes sense, but when someone is selling external licenses then it is a completely different matter.
merlinpa1969
Vixile, You have stated your point. The fact of the matter is that you get rewards for buying direct, and I dont see that changing any time soon no matter how you try to spin it.

GGWH-James
No, the fact of the matter is that you get neglected and punished for buying from a reseller. That is truly one of the stupidest things that I've read in quite a long time.
easyhosting
These are internal licenses, not external. these are the licences any reseller would purchase from WHMCS and either sell to their clients or give away with packages.
laszlof
these are the licences any reseller would purchase from WHMCS and either sell to their clients or give away with packages. Authorized resellers work differently, as they are actually allowed to "sell" the licenses. The reseller program that was previously linked is not what those companies are using. The OP is probably correct about how they pay for licenses. In my opinion, this discussion would be better suited for the reseller who sold you a license without perks. Its not WHMCS's fault they did not notify you that you would not get the perks available for direct customers. On top of that, most of those "perks" your referring to are not even advertised at all. You have to A) know about them, and B) Specifically request them.

Those "perks" are something you figure out when you need them, and by then it's way to late to do anything about it, specially for those with a owned license. And yes, you'r right, most of it's fault is the resellers but WHMCS could easily put a requirement for their resellers to actually inform about the "perks" you loose before you buy from a reseller.
bear
WHMCS could easily put a requirement for their resellers to actually inform about the "perks" you loose before you buy from a reseller. I imagine that would affect the number of sales they get. "To keep your costs low, we don't offer x, y or z with these licenses. To get that, you'd need to buy direct". I'm sure it could be phrased to minimize the impact, but it would still impact sales.
VicToMeyeZR
The OP makes it sound like the company he bought from DID advertise they get all the same perks. If this IS truely the case, then they need to be removed as a reseller. At least someone should be looking at this reseller to see if they are giving WHMCS a bad name.. Would be my thought.
VicToMeyeZR
advertise WHMCS Licenses as "Regular WHMCS Licenses, with your own WHMCS account and support from WHMCS" Is this true or not true?
easyhosting
Is this true or not true? well if it is sold by a regular reseller then NO to point 1, as when a reseller sells or gives a WHMCS licence to one of their clients the clients DOES NOT get their own WHMCS account, but they do get support from WHMCS
