Design Services, deposits, cant add funds w/o exisiting order

I'm a web designer and I want to use WHMCS but when I create an invoice, there is no way (that I know of) to allow clients to pay 50% deposit and pay the rest later. They get an error that says 'cannot deposit funds w/o an existing order'.

I commented in another thread but was hoping someone can provide a solution that doesnt look like a low-budget work-around.

 

Is this a short-coming of the software?

In the up coming 4.2 release, (currently under early beta testing) I believe you will have the ability to make partial payments to a invoice. This would solve this issue I believe.

Roll on v4.2 -alot of neat features with it
