Do you have .htaccess protection or anything like that on the api.php file?
robwee
no I don't think so. I asked Matt and he said to point to my root folder like this - /whmcs/ able to connect but says permissions error. I triple check login and it's good. However what I need to access is my admin panel which is here /whmcs/admin which I can't
atDev
We typed in our URL like http://www.domain.com/whmcs/ and it works. But try: http://www.domain.com/whmcs/includes/api.php I believe the permissions error means you have not given the API user you are entering permission in the WHMCS admin area.
robwee
I am using the same login info I've been using. What you mean by "API user permission". In my configuration.php file I added this line as stated in the support page - $api_access_key = "password"; I set up a random password and matched it to my Iphone app. What am I missing. I thank you for your help
atDev
Check under the WHMCS admin area under the Setup->Administrator Roles. Edit the one you are using and make sure the permissions are checked off.
robwee
Right now everything is checked. Which permission are you referring to? The one at the bottom which says >> "API Access"? Uncheck that?
atDev
No that should is suppose to be checked. You mentioned an "permission" error so I thought that you left something unchecked. Maybe submit a ticket to Matt? I am not 100% sure as I am simply an experienced WHMCS user and have the app running smoothly but Matt may be able to help better.

HostOrca
I beleive that you need the current version for it to work with the iPhone app (I might be wrong though).
Daniel
same issue here, can not access am getting Error Invalid IP 111.111.111.111 That's usually due to not putting the key in the configuration.php file.
robwee
I confirmed with Matt that version 4.1 is required. He tried to patch my 3.7.1. Didn't work.
