GobalaKrishnan
I had a look at the documentation, but they dont mention how to install an add on once you've downloaded it. Which folder do I upload it to, and what are the steps to adding it and being able to use it? For example I just downloaded the Official Free Trials Mod, I got the single PHP file but now what, how to use it? Any help is appreciated!
BAJI26
This addon is a very simple "Free Trial" hack. The following is how you install it: 1) Upload the modules folder to your whmcs folder. 2) Log in to WHMCS and create some hosting packages with the type "Free Account". 3) Create a new e-mail template of the "Product" type and paste the content of sample_trialreminder_template.txt into the WYSIWYG text editor. 4) Go into the Addon Modules section in WHMCS admin, select the "Freetrial" addon, and you will be prompted to install it. Once you do, you can set the required settings. - Trial Hosting Packages: select the hosting packages that are set to be used for free trials. - Trial Duration (Days): the number of days the trial account will last for. - Trial Reminder Notice (Days): the number of days to elapse before sending a reminder to the client that the trial account will soon expire. - Template: the e-mail template to be used when sending reminder notices. This is the one created in step 3. 5) You will need to set 2 cron jobs: one for remindtrial.php (which sends reminders before the free trial ends for each account) and removetrial.php (removes accounts whose trial periods have expired. It is recommended to run the removal script before the reminder script, and have both set to run after the WHMCS cron job each day. This addon was inspired by the WHMCS Gold free trial addon, but made easier to install and use. http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=21681
GobalaKrishnan
Thanks for your reply, but as a beginners there's still lots of holes in the information. 1) Which folder do I upload it to? And, do I just upload the single PHP file or the entire folder? I tried uploading to "modules" folder but it doesnt show up 2) "Go into the Addon Modules section in WHMCS admin, select the "Freetrial" addon" - dont see any linke to Freetrial at all
GobalaKrishnan
The only file available it "end_free_trials_hook.php" This is using the official free trials mod: http://www.whmcs.com/members/communityaddons.php?action=viewmod&id=49

GobalaKrishnan
BAJI26 was referring to a different free trial addon, which I got and installed as an "add on" and it worked perfectly. This is different from the free trials mod in the community addon area - I have no luck with that.
Abe
Yeah I think he misread the OP. He was reffering to the "Official Free Trials Mod", not the "Free Trial Addon".
