bear
I use an address that pipes into the helpdesk (Kayako). This associates those emails with that person, and if they sign up it becomes part of thier ticket history.
DedicatedPros
You don't save it in the client area as that's just a php contact form so a client can email you from the website without having to use Gmail or some other email app. To do what you want a client would have to open an account and use the ticket support.

bear
Basically, the support or presales address you want to use for contact is piped (forwarded to the script) to the helpdesk I use, opening a ticket. I'm not using the built in helpdesk for this, so it was really simple. All links for support issues within WHMCS point to the helpdesk I use, and it's skinned to look similar to WHMCS. To the client it feels about the same. As long as the client uses the same email to sign up, all tickets created thereafter are easily found.
jnet
thanks which part in whmcs I can change the email address for presale question only? bear
I've used billing@ in the general settings, and that's what's used. I then used a mail forwarder to pipe to the desk. All billing messages and presales then go to the desk department.
