Getting blacklsited by the AU whois register, and how to avoid it

Please move to Tips tricks and how tos

The AU WHOIS service is limited to 20 checks per hour and 200 per day

Iif you have a couple of customers using domain search at one time (or even one vigourous client using the bulk domain checker), its pretty easy to get your server blacklisted for 24 hours

In WHMCS, change the entries in the whoisservers.php file from

.asn.au|whois.ausregistry.net.au|No Data Found

to

.asn.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|Not Available

Obviously change the other .au listings as well

This workaround is as yet untested (I'm still on blacklist) but was given to me by DistributeIT (well done boys) who know a thing or two about these things, and confirmed by AusRegistry

Well Mike, then you wont be disappointed.

Over the weekend, i received no less than 4 email responses from one of their team, to try and resolve this. Considering they aren't traditionally a 24/7 firm, its hard to fualt them

One of the reasons I stick with DIT (despite the fact that I could save $5 or $10 per dom. registration by changing) is their service.

The solution which they've come up with, appears to work.

Below is some code for the includes/whoiserververs.php code

.asn.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

.com.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

.edu.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

.org.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

.net.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

.id.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

I've done 30 or 40 dom .au searches in an hour and haven't got banned yet

Apparentlly, the extra dashes are the solution - go figure!!

Hi Team,

This doesn't work. Apparently Google.com.au is available :o All domains are available.

Has anyone else got a working solution, or contacted AusRegistry?

Thank You

Works fine for me using this

.asn.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available
.com.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available
.edu.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available
.org.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available
.net.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available
.id.au|whois-check.ausregistry.net.au|---Available

You have removed the old lines.... haven't you?
