WHCMS for non-hosting business?

Simon_PP

Question

Hi, I just want to make sure i am looking at the right product before i make a decision on purchasing WHMCS. I have looked at Plesk Billing as well but it seems like a mess over there and a lot of unhappy customers.

I am trying to sell hosted email accounts to people. So people who sign up will get a mailbox on our email sever. They can either use our domain name email extention or use their own domain name. We will be billing our customers by monthly, annually and 2-yrs (whatever that word is).

My questions are:

1) Is WHCMS suitable for my business in general? I know that WHCMS was mainly designed for web server hosting business.

2) Is the client area look & feel (check out process, colours, placement of various texts) highly customizable? I have looked through the demo and various sites on the showcase section. I have to say that WHCMS often looks out of place and a little old school. Our website will be very WEB 2.0 style and we need a very tight & smooth integration of WHCMS. I would like to change the flow of the check out process to be all on 1-2 pages if possible as well.

3) Is it possible to add my own scripts so that it will do certain tasks after an order has been paid for? i.e. creating an email account on another email server according to the information the user has entered.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
