KingJ
Hi, We are offering Web Hosting as a side offer, our primary use of WHMCS is in tandem with TCAdmin. However, we've had a few requests from users to allow them to register domains with us, rather than recommend them to another domain provider and have them point the DNS at our server. However, looking around at various registrars, it seems they either need a yearly payment or deposit $100 or more before being able to register. We don't want to deposit $100 or make a yearly payment because I know domain sales will never offset that. Are there any registers out there that intergrate with WHMCS's API and will charge me for domains sold in the month or charge me just per domain? I'm not too worried about the per-domain price.

KingJ
Yep, they both require $100 deposit last I checked. Having a look at namecheap, at lease I can opt what I want to put in, but i'd rather be invoiced.
othellotech
but i'd rather be invoiced. Only if you deal with the registries direct will you get "invoice" options on domain registrations rather than pre-payment, and that'll require a $100k+ investment in memberships and technology - so if you're baling at putting $100 down now, thats not going to be an option. Simply set the registrar type to "email" and process them manually until you have enough (10?) to justify the deposit and automation.
chickendippers
Yep, they both require $100 deposit last I checked Huh? No they don't. You pre-load your account with funds and they are used to register each domain name. I don't class it as a deposit as that money is actually used to pay for the domain names. eNom will only let you add $100 minimum, but ResellerClub lets you add whatever you like eg $5 for 1 domain.
KingJ
Since this isn't our main line of business, nor do I anticipate many sales I prefer not to pay until i've got some actual clients, hence the reluctance to pop down $100 or more. I'm just not ready to put down that amount of money for something that won't necessarily get a return, ever. And scrap namecheap, they want $200 deposit/balance for API access! Any time I move money to another account, I call it a deposit. Even so, it's $100 I might not get back for a long time. If I had a steady flow of domain orders, it would be understandable.
mcraedesigns
But its only $100, that you will eventually use. I am curious as to what the downside to this?
chickendippers
Even so, it's $100 I might not get back for a long time. Well sign up for the ResellerClub account then, that has no minimum.
KingJ
But its only $100, that you will eventually use. I am curious as to what the downside to this? Webhosting is not our primary business, we offer it alongside our other products and to not offer some form of domain registration would be silly. I do not expect to get $100 in domain orders for a long time. Well sign up for the ResellerClub account then, that has no minimum. I actually went with Netearthone after having a talk with them. They suited my needs perfectly.
chickendippers
NEO are ResellerClub resellers
JFSG
Just throwing in $100 won't harm isn't it? It is an usable deposit, which means the deposit you placed in can be used. NEO are ResellerClub resellers Wrong. NetEarthOne is an ICANN accredited registrar. They are just using the LogicBoxes platform/API, which is developed by DirectI, the parent company of ResellerClub. NEO =/= reseller of ResellerClub.

Indeed, however it might take us years to sell $100 worth of domains - money that could be better spent elsewhere. Domains and Webhosting are not our primary business areas. As mentioned previously, I went with NetEarthOne, who let me deposit a custom amount which is suitable for the volume of domains I sell - I just add in $10 as and when I need to. Just the same as you can do with ResellerClub.
