QuickBooks Web Connector Trial Available

Recommended Posts

You know after chatting with my accountant, I've found a simple way to enter invoices into QB.

I've been adding invoices on a per customer basis and then selecting the products sold etc. Now he has pointed out that credit crontrol is already built into WHMCS for chasing late payers so what's the point in breaking down to customer level?

So I now have three customers, World, EU and UK and enter the invoice in bulk. I have a script that tells me the total sales for the above customer groups for each product line in my system which is what I use to enter sales.

Instead of entering 500+ invoices per month, I now enter about 15 ;)

While i agree with the it can make accounts hard to reconcile on a daily basis. The best idea is to import daily journals. I would look at this but im not a quicken user and the $400 to beciase a quicken developer isn't rly worth it atm.

This is something I'm potentially interested in, but at the moment I can't find download links to anything but the manual from the ach site. How do I get hold of the test release? Broken links in the first post of this thread don't inspire much confidence. Also, where is the pricing detailed?

Yes this project is most definitely still alive. While the software works great there were many issues with users self-installing and I simply did not have the time needed to answer support requests. I made it as simple as possible to install but installation problems depend greatly on the current state of the WHMCS database.

Currently the underlying framework is being completely reworked with more features and with expanded support for different databases for custom implementations for programs other than WHMCS.

I don’t have an eta on release. Also, more than likely this will not be released as a self-install program but rather installation would be included in the price. This would take care of the vast majority of the support issues.

If anyone wants a copy of the trial version they can send me a pm and I will send it to you but I will not be able to answer any support requests if you have problems installing it.

It doesn't work with Paypal Subscriptions.

It works with any payment that has been applied to a invoice. If you have a subscription payment but no invoice for it to be applied to then no it can't and should not download that transaction as that would violate basic accounting rules. Thats what I was talking about with respect to the WHMCS database. WHMCS will allow a payment to be inserted into the database with no invoice attatched to it. This is, in my view, a flaw that should not be allowed to happen. It also allows you to delete an invoice without first deleting any payments that were applied or deleting the invoice line items that were contained on that invoice leaving orphaned records in db.

I hope that v4 fixes these flaws.

We are very interested in this module and hope it is subscription base and not a 1 time fee. Subscription based software tend to have more updates/patches than 1 time purchases, especially at small niches such as this (WHMCS Users).

Is this software still being developed on a weekly basis? I hope...

The project is dead. I tried emailing them and I they didn't have a clue what WHMCS was/is. I'm assuming the tech who was working on the plugin for WHMCS is no longer working for them.

I don't know who you emailed but it wasn't the right person. The QBWC for WHMCS isn't dead but has been shelved for a while due to time constraints of other projects. I hope to get back to it soon but all of my time has been filled up coding custom QBWC's for other projects.

One thing to note about it is that it probably won't be a self install program when it is released and would probably include a monthly service fee to fund ongoing development. Generally, whenever a new version of WHMCS comes out it would require new code to make it work.

Real companies who need a accounting solution will be more than happy to pay your monthly fee. Just get it released!!! ;-)

For anybody wanting integration with Quickbooks and WHMCS there is a way to do it, but it's complex.

You can set up an SQL query to export fields to CSV and use a program such as Transaction Importer Pro (http://www.baystateconsulting.com/products/01TxnWizard.htm) to import these to Quickbooks.

It's quite a complicated query you'll need to write, and custom depending on the products you sell / how you do your accounting, but it works.

Proper accounting is complex enough, no need to try and complicate it even more. I'm still pushing for the quickbooks module!

Sound interesting when a stable plugin sounds almost impossible - http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=142428#post142428.

Do you also enter payments in bulk? And since you enter payments in bulk, how do you deal with invoices that has not been paid? :D

Yep I do. As I only enter the invoice after it has been paid, unpaid invoices do not represent an issue.

This does present a minor issue with VAT dates but since I have a tight control over unpaid invoices (as in very short payment terms) this doesn't really create an issue.

Thanks for sharing. I guess this is the best workaround to an integrated solution.

By the way, have you guys seen the other connector from consolibyte? I guess it is doing the same thing - http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=25572
