TDub
I have customers who purchase SSL certs from me and I install them for them. So, I order them from a provider who then sends the cert to me to install. I bill the client a one time fee for the SSL cert. The problem is renewals. When time comes for the renewal, the SSL provider sends the reminder to me. And I have to send that to the customer. I'd rather WHMCS take care of that for me by sending a reminder when the SSL cert is due. I guess I could set up the order as a recurring one-year order, but then I still need to be reminded to renew their cert. How are you all handling SSL cert renewals?
chickendippers
We use the automated eNom SSL module - does it all automatically.
pacwebhosting
Hi, Yes we use enom for our SSL also it is fully automated. Thanks
TDub
So you like using the enom certs? Any problems you've encountered with them? When you say automated module, that's not a WHMCS integrated automation, right? That's on enom's side?
pacwebhosting
Hi, Yes WHMCS emails the client a link to a page (in whmcs) to supply the signing request and type of server and a few other details and submits them to enom. The client then receives the cert or a request for further info if the cert requires it. Thanks
TDub
So how is it enabled? Do you have to buy the eNom services through WHMCS to get those features, or if you're already an eNom reseller can you just turn them on in WHMCS? I don't remember seeing anyplace this can be set up.
lostinspace
Yep, if you're an enom reseller you can start using the module: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Enom_SSL_Certificates
TDub
Sweet! Thanks! I originally did a search for SSL in the WIKI but it didn't come up with anything. Glad you pointed me to it.
lostinspace
Np. I know the wiki search doesn't always produce results for some reason so I dug for it since I knew it was definately in there somewhere.
TDub
The WIKI doesn't really talk about the renewal process. How does that work? Do you set the cert up as one-time charge, and before the SSL expires WHMCS will send a reminder to the customer? Or do you have to set it up as a recurring charge?
merlinpa1969
Also how can you make sure that the account CANT purchase an ssl unless it has a dedicated IP attached to the account
chickendippers
That's not possible.

Or do you have to set it up as a recurring charge? We're assuming there's going to be two notices; one from the SSL Company and one from WHMCS. Can't speak to specifics since none of our SSL customers that singed up through WHMCS will renew for a year ;o). We set ours up as a recurring package (1 and 2 year purchases). According to the wiki you can then set the years by the configurable option method but we found that that won't change the recurrence of the package. You then get a renewal date of one or two years regardless of the amount of years set in the configurable options. We thought about trying the onetime payment setting in the package but then found that the package won't renew. Simply having the automation of the SSL module was enough to trump the risk of not having more than two year SSL purchases so we chose not mess with it further.
merlinpa1969
Ok there is NO way to make sure that a client has a ded IP before purchasing an ssl, I can see where that can cause issues, but I guess they will get an email that says they need the IP before they can install it.
