Domain/URL forwarding

Is there a way to offer domain/URL forwarding to customers? How do you guys handle this?

You can offer it as an item but I don't know of any way of automating the setup.

 

One way to do it, I suppose, would be to add a product and make a required field for the domain name and any other information you need to setup the forwarding. Then once you get the order you manually setup the forward.

 

If there was an automated way to do this, I'd like to hear about it too.

This is easy. Once a client has purchased a domain name, whether it is .com, .co.uk, .net etc, they will be given the domain/url forwarding access instantly. This would be accessed via the clients account under the DNS Management tab.

 

From there, the client can choose to change nameservers, mail settings and all domain forwarding options. So there is absolutely no need to setup a plan of any kind to make the domain/url forwarding options be available to clients. It's all automatic.

Who would be the provider of the forwarding service? Any of the domain providers, something setup in the hosting box?

@dk, only if your registrar offers this (eg DIT doesn't), and you have those boxes ticked.
