jozeph
All domain names have 4 contacts: 1- Registrant 2- Admin 3- Tech 4- Bill I see that whmcs does't support all contact infos. Some one is planning to request this feature? To support all contact infos?
DataHosts
Why not you? You can just as easily go to Feature Request and do it..why ask for someone to do this request when you want it?
sparky
I use DistributeIT module and I see all 4 quite OK What registrar module are you using?

jozeph
I'm asking because I'm a new user and don't know if is this a problem or just a missing configuration set. Why not you? You can just as easily go to Feature Request and do it..why ask for someone to do this request when you want it?
R-n-R
I am using the Reseller Club module and I know on the Configuration > Domain Registrars page and the General Settings tab selected, if you have the check box "Use Clients Details" WHMCS will use the clients info in their profile for all for, Billing/Admin/Tech Contact details. If you uncheck the box you have to add the details, but still it will be used for all for the listed above. I too would like to see the capability of having control over at LEAST the Admin and Registrant (true domain owner) details, the other two Admin and Tech contact are almost useless now days.
jozeph
In this case, I will open this topic as feature request. (Maybe some moderator can move this post to feature request?)
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted October 25, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted October 25, 2008 It depends which registrar you use as to which & how many contact fields get shown. In the case of DirectI/ResellerClub, their API operates a contacts based system. It will only allow 1 contact with any 1 email address. Therefore when registering a domain, a contact is created for the customer and because a seperate one can't be created for the same customer email address, it has to be assigned to all 4 contact types of the new domain. Therefore editing that single contact profile in future updates all 4 contacts on the domain, hence why you only see one set of fields when modifying the whois data from within WHMCS. jozeph
Hi Matt, maybe this can be solved using the 'contacts manager' from client area. My idea is, create a new contact *subaccount* on client area. So, edit domain info. The informations will be displayed only for DOMAIN REGISTRANT. You can edit it manually. All 3 other contacts, will be displayed a select box with: Admin Info: <option>default registrar info</option> <option>Contact 1</option> Tech Info: <option>default registrar info</option> <option>Contact 1</option> Bill Info: <option>default registrar info</option> <option>Contact 1</option> I think this can be done using this 'way'. In this case, when you assign one of that contacts a new 'customer' will be create using the resellerclub API. To edit domain information, just edit the user sub account details and go to domain info to re-submit it. Do you understand my idea?
stirton
Hi Matt, Is this limitation one governed by the API as opposed to LogicBoxes' interface? Certainly within the LB interface you can create multiple contacts per 'customer' i.e. the main contact as the registrant and you can create another 3 if you wish for each of billing/admin/technical ... It's currently a bit of a pain transferring domains using WHMCS when all 4 get the client's details. Thanks
netearth
Ill look up this in the docs, as I know the management control interface (RC/DI) uses their API to do all editing.
netearth
OK from talking to LB, there is the following option : When your Transferring or Reg a Domain Name, you have to pass RegistrantContactId, AdminContactId, BillingContactId and TechContactId To create these contacts you can use the add method in the DomContact Class and then assign them to the above when transfering or creating a domain. So Matt would need to do a little rewrite, the simplest route would be to create the admin/tech and billing contactid, then store it (the contactid number) and use it in future reg/transfer if the box is ticked in Config >> Domain Registrations. Matt Hi, I think you'r wrong here. DirectI allows you to create any number of contact profiles for a single client and any of those contact profile can be used for Reg, Admin, Billing and Tech. You just have to send the Contact Profile ID's when the domain is registered. Thanks.
